People around me are completely speechless and they can’t believe it is only been 12-weeks. They say things like “wow, what you’ve done in 12-weeks, I’ve been trying to do for years.” I’ll be the first to admit I’m not the fittest person around, exercise and weight training don’t come naturally to me.

They work at your own pace and get you to a place and level of strength and fitness you don’t think is possible. This wasn’t just a physical change, my relationship and approach to food have been changed forever.

Their nutritional advice has been educational and really straightforward to follow. With them, there’s no fad-dieting as they don’t believe in them moreover, only a diet that works for you; and believe me, food is a big part of my life.

 

What was the key to your success?

For me ticking two boxes 1. getting fit, and 2. fixing my diet I thought would be a challenge. But overall the food choices that were tailored to me and really thought about, kept me happy and the process interesting so I could put my full energy into training.

The second key would be – it’s fun training! I had never done weight training before, or touched a dumbbell in my life. But the team really helped me understand this area greatly and taught me how to focus on targeting key muscle groups correctly in a beginner-friendly and step-by-step fashion.

Why did you choose Star Being?

I loved their whole vibe, their style felt like the right fit for me – being health-lead providers and offering all-encompassing well-being programmes was exactly what I was looking for – I wanted to learn!

This was a big step for me, I wasn’t overweight as such, so finding a provider I felt would really listen, and give me the proper help with nutrition and teach me about weights was a win. When looking around once you get past all the typical marketing bumph from intimidating result-getters gyms, you see they just do the same thing with everyone: fad diets/ unrealistic training etc. Whereas Star Being felt like a more tailored service.

I thrived. I made huge progress with fat loss in the first month and this really spurred me on. Generally weight loss-wise I was seeing numbers drop on the scales weekly and inches of fat vanishing; everything I was doing and the recommendations given to me were working. I had never lost weight like this before yet felt so strong and energised. Although body-results weren’t my main goal, it was still nice to see definition and feel the change.

As for my strength, well, It went to new heights, in a short space of time. It felt more like a routine by the end of month 1 after adjusting to my new training schedule. I was working my way up the weight racks in P.T sessions and growing with confidence in my form and execution, while slowly phasing-in more advanced movements which was fun; and seeing where I was a month ago by comparison was encouraging.

Fooood, do tell

Yes! They give you plenty of choices and really map out the food groups that work for you. I really felt in the last month, particularly my eating habits took pivotal moments of change and realization of how I’d previously been eating until now; it was a total nutritional wake-up call and affirming life-change.

I understood what food and meals worked for me (as there are a lot of little journeys and experimentation you go through with food when in training). I found ways to stop my cravings for sugar and found alternatives to sugar. I discovered new ways to meal-prep, in easy-to-make/time-friendly healthy ways that made food taste great (a must), and It never felt like I was on a ‘diet’ per se, but more just eating for life.

Best moments?

The best takeaway moment/experience from a customer view would be the fantastic service – they’re great at what they do, and as expected the level of help here is world-class. I felt like there was never a silly question to ask, or a challenge they prescribed I couldn’t handle; it’s a very inclusive collaboration where they always have your best interests at heart. I remember the very first day, I was nervous, but after that first consultation all I could do was listen to the obvious experience I was paying for.

It was really amazing to be surrounded highly motivated trainers, who are patient and knowledgeable. Other major memorable moments would be doing push-ups and planks, it may sound silly to some but these small-wins I achieved were a testament of the progression I made. This among pull-ups, and some other pretty big weight training moves that I was surprised I got to a position where I could do them, almost comfortably!

How much support did you recieve from the team?

Mentor and mindset training sessions, extra exercise program, and diet plans if needed. Constant updates, body-comp scans, and tons of bespoke materials, which I know were completely handmade for me as we sat down and mapped them out ourselves specifically for my lifestyle in depth. Great explanations and help in understanding training concepts or proposed nutritional styles – there was even a lesson on ‘fad-dieting’ with diagrams lol; which amazingly cleared up a lot of general misinformation and taught me all about flexible eating.

If you want to talk about ‘value vs’ (money-talks I guess), even the little things like running over an appointment here or there was no biggie, rather, they just wanted to give excellent help as much as possible. – I’d say If I only signed up for a 12-week plan with 90 training sessions, they probably gave 50% more time in add-ons alone. Things like all the continued bespoke plans/ general coaching answering questions outside of appointments among a lifetime of skills already attained. Oh, did I mention they’re just great motivators (upbeat) people. It’s refreshing to walk into a positive institute that doesn’t take itself too seriously and is full of happy vibes.

New goals moving forward?

Yes, I’ve left the old me behind and with my new skills comes a pledge to myself to never revisit that state of self-care I was in again – that’s how it makes you feel when you’ve come this far and achieved so much, determined. Simply, there was always more I could have been doing pre-Star Being, that I definitely had not noticed before. Basically, I am now confident that if I can implement these new habits for the majority of the year and apply what I’ve learned as much as possible; of course, everything is in moderation, but then this will be a game-changer for me.

Over the last 10-years, I have found myself so far away from the fitness goals I wanted to achieve and Star Being have taught me how to enjoy the journey and get results the right way. With that in mind I feel the most successful art form is the continued action of positive action towards better well- being with small steps, even one little change everyday. After-all post-programme, the foundation has been built now so as they say: ”I can train smarter not harder.” – So moves will be smaller, but frequent. It’s fun, and improves all aspects of my life like magic. I feel grateful and dedicated to the journey of health.

What’s next?

What’s next for you? A lot of good things, I’m rebalanced now, and now the goal is to find continued balance in healthy-living and training, but overall I am driven to do more and see where my new well-being can take me. So together with Star Being we have explored my next goals and new challenges such as a half-marathon that I started working towards on-programme too. It is a lifestyle now and I can’t imagine not training, so I will be always keeping a base of weight training of split muscle-group training and varied cardio-types around main/bigger goals.

Final thoughts and insights?

A note to mention how much my attitude and mindset have shifted about exercise and well-being and I think this will be the case for most people, it’s impactful.   I would like to thank Star Being for believing in me, and motivating me every day. Mostly, I would like to thank them for inspiring me every day on my programme. The work David and the team are doing makes the personal training industry inclusive and accessible for everyone, it’s phenomenal.

People with little fitness background like myself would normally face barriers such as a lack of direction or education in this area, but they teach a full ecosystem of health and well-being and make it clear how it fits into the bigger picture. Best of all they provided tremendous assistance in post-programme life and training too. Thank you again!
